New build architectural design incorporating elements of an existing cob threshing barn
Total dismantling of 1980's conversion of an 18th Century threshing barn back to bare walls and rebuilding incorporating new two-storey double width extension, ground source heat pump, under-floor heating whole house ventilation system and solar panels.
Cob, stone and thatch barn conversion
Traditional peg jointed oak framed trusses, lime rendered walls and thatched roof soften and enhance the conversion of this traditional group of Devon barns.
New-build thatched garage and ancillary accommodation within Grade II listed threshing barn engine house
Within the grounds of a Grade II listed farmhouse, a new double garage with lean-to 'tractor shed' and ancillary room over, in addition to converting the Grade II listed threshing barn engine 'round house' to provide ancillary en-suite accommodation. Green oak frame and waney edged boards sourced from the Clients' own woodland adjacent to the farmhouse. Traditional oak joinery, lime render, lime pointing and thatch.
Design Philosophy
We endeavour to provide architectural design solutions which harmonise with the context of the rural landscape and historic townscapes of Devon and neighbouring counties. Be it an extension to an existing heritage property, the refurbishment of an medieval farmhouse or a complete new build design, we will work with the Client to deliver their vision.
Natural and Traditional Building Materials
We utilise traditional building techniques including, thatch, cob and lime mortar as well as drawing on modern eco aware and conservation building materials and products such as ground source heat pumps, solar panels, natural insulation, cork renders and sustainable and responsibly sourced products.
Replacement Dwelling - Designed by Sam Percival of Building Conservation Services
Planning consent granted in the Dartmoor National Park to replace an existing bungalow with an entirely new dwelling. Timber-framed and clad with untreated feather edged larch cladding and provided with a full height oak framed glazed living space. Permission granted separately for a detached timber framed garage with ancillary accommodation.
Glazed Atrium - Designed by Sam Percival of Building Conservation Services
Planning consent granted to add a full height glazed atrium to a Grade II listed property in Torridge District Local Authority. Major Internal and external alterations and improvements including photovoltaic solar panels , under floor heating and new Delabole slate roof. RICS Award winner.

Planning consent granted in North Devon local authority district for a entirely new build farmhouse in open farmland. Clad with cedar board-on-board untreated cladding and weathered with cedar shingles. Open plan living with underfloor heating throughout.

Planning consent within Torridge District Local Authority for a new build training facility, built from straw bales, cork wall boards, lime render and weathered with a sedum green roof.
